Johnson & Johnson, Robotics and Digital (RAD) Solutions is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, R&D Robotics located in Santa Clara, CA.

Overview:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with other members of the design team to craft complex mechanisms, structural but lightweight assemblies, motor driven actuators, and motion transmissions. This role is responsible for conceptual and detailed CAD design, drawings, related documentation and design specifications. Work will be focused on deriving and formalizing innovative designs based on user needs and product requirements. Key team interfaces include electrical engineering, robot controls, system integration, testing, external vendors, and internal manufacturing groups.

This position will be a key technical member of a team chartered with designing a complex robotic system. Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Define sub-assembly specifications and necessary functional limits.

  • Design parts and assemblies in CAD and release in Document Control environment.

  • Lead small teams of designers and engineers to accomplish larger project goals.

  • Be a positive, collaborative team member with a good honest work ethic.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:

  • Background in robotics or medical capital equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.

  • Knowledge and experience with AMSE Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning and Tolerancing application and best practices.

  • 5+ years relevant experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies.

  • Ability to perform basic FEA other analyses focused on mechanical strength, heat generation and dynamic performance.

  • Demonstrated excellence in mechanism design.

  • Experience designing for manufacturing and familiarity with manufacturing processes - e.g. machining, casting, stamping, forming, molding.

  • Able to learn from others as well as mentor and coach more junior team members.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
