The Finishing Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the finishing process, including powder coating, pretreatment, and curing. This role ensures high-quality finished products, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and efficient material management. The position also leads continuous improvement efforts while maintaining strict environmental and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for paint and pretreatment processes Perform and monitor quality inspections and testing on finished products Maintain and control pretreatment chemical concentrations through routine titration and system monitoring Monitor powder paint storage conditions and manage inventory levels Ensure wastewater documentation and regulatory compliance are maintained in accordance with environmental standards Ensure adherence to safety and environmental health standards Maintain quality control documentation, inspection records, and test results Collaborate with suppliers to ensure optimal product performance for specific applications Troubleshoot finishing defects such as orange peel, poor adhesion, flaking, improper curing, or contamination Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce defects, and minimize waste Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 3-5 years of relevant experience in finishing, powder coating, or similar manufacturing environment Strong understanding of powder coat paint processes Working knowledge of paint equipment, processes, and control systems Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles Understanding of workplace safety programs and objectives Skills & Competencies Experience in powder coating, finishing engineering, or related manufacturing roles Strong knowledge of powder application systems, cure ovens, and pretreatment systems Ability to analyze paint defects and implement corrective actions Experience with chemical titration and process control Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Ability to work independently and make data-driven decisions Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
