Research and Development Engineer Jobs in North Carolina

A Research and Development (R&D) Engineer in the manufacturing engineering industry is responsible for creating and implementing new technologies, processes, and equipment to enhance production efficiency, quality and safety. They conduct extensive research, perform simulations and experiments, and analyze data to develop innovative solutions or improvements to existing manufacturing systems. R&D Engineers work closely with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects, from conceptualization to production. They also ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Important skills for an R&D Engineer include a strong foundation in engineering principles, proficiency in using relevant software and technology, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team. They should also possess excellent communication skills, project management abilities, and attention to detail. Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) can be beneficial, and a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is typically required. Prior roles that could lead to an R&D Engineer position in the manufacturing engineering industry may include roles as a Manufacturing Engineer, a Process Engineer, or a Design Engineer.
