Controls Engineer Jobs in Missouri
A Controls Engineer in the manufacturing engineering industry plays a vital role in designing, developing, and overseeing automation systems that are used to enhance and streamline manufacturing processes. They are responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues related to automated equipment, designing control systems, and developing protocols for system checkouts and startups. A part of their job also entails programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), creating and analyzing system drawings, and ensuring that all systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
Skills required for this job may vary, but a solid understanding of PLC programming, CAD software, and a strong background in electronics and automation are typically expected. Knowledge in ladder logic, SCADA systems, and HMI interface design is also crucial. Some certifications that could prove beneficial include Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST), Professional Engineer (PE), or a certification in PLC programming. To become a Controls Engineer, individuals often start their careers in roles such as Electrical Technician, Automation Technician, or a Junior Engineer in controls or automation.
