Come join our growing team in support of the development of the next generation of battery electronics at Acme Aerospace, Inc. We are a leading manufacturer in the design and manufacture of custom batteries and battery control electronic systems for military and commercial aircraft applications.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting and creating mechanical designs, drawings and PCB outlines in support of new product development and product improvements. The candidate will be required to architect innovative Battery/Electronic Packaging Designs for the aerospace industry. The candidate should be skilled in 3-D modeling and thermal and stress simulation tools to verify designs.
What You'll Do:
Design with impact: Create innovative mechanical packaging solutions for battery systems and battery chargers in aerospace applications.
Bridge disciplines: Collaborate with Electrical and PCB Layout Engineers to ensure optimal part placement and system integration.
Own the details: Develop comprehensive assembly drawings, wire lists, and support materials for production and proposal efforts.
Validate your designs: Run thermal and stress simulations to prove out your designs using tools like SolidWorks, Flotherm, and Ansys.
Engineer for reliability: Perform tolerance analysis and design verification aligned with rigorous aerospace standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461).
Contribute and lead: Present at Design Reviews (PDR, CDR) and deliver complete drawing packages, BOMs, and part lists.
Support production: Assist in transitioning designs from engineering to manufacturing while supporting cost reduction efforts through validated alternate parts.
Drive DFM: Apply best practices in Design for Manufacturing to ensure every solution is efficient, manufacturable, and ready for the field.
What You'll Bring:
7+ years of experience in mechanical design and packaging of electronic assemblies.
Proven proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and PDM for 3D modeling, drawings, and documentation.
Strong background in designing machined, sheet metal, and cast parts for aerospace environments.
Experience creating complete engineering drawing sets for piece parts and assemblies.
Familiarity with aerospace environmental and EMI/EMC standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD- 461).
Advanced knowledge of DFM and manufacturing process constraints.
Hands-on experience with simulation tools (SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, Flotherm) to verify designs
under thermal and mechanical stress.
