POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for engineering large steel and fabric structures for manufacturing and construction from concept through detailed shop drawings, as well as providing support to post-sale installation. Applies Engineering and Design for Manufacturability principles and ensures quality, cost, safety and delivery standards are met while maintaining design intent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor CAD software.
- Utilize and apply engineering principles and best practices to solve design problems.
- Interfaces with internal and external customers to ensure designs meet objectives for quality, performance, schedule, costs and manufacturability (DFMA).
- Complete layouts, shop drawings, assign part numbers; create bills of material, complete routings, cost estimates, and installation sheets for products so manufacturing can be completed in a timely manner.
- Support planning and builds of prototype assemblies.
- Support product testing as needed.
- Ensure designs meet all safety and regulatory requirements. Participate in completing FMEA's.
- Operate with minimal supervision and/or engineering support.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of related work experience with a proven record of successfully creating 3D models with Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong design experience with industrial steel, sheet metal, plate and tubing fabrication are desirable.
- Experience in construction or large industrial assembly preferred.
- Knowledge of numerous manufacturing processes and materials.
- Ability to manage projects - highly organized, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
