Planet Tool and Engineering is a machine shop and custom machine builder located in O'Fallon, MO specializing in precision machining for the Aerospace, medical and various commercial fields. We are currently looking for a qualified design engineer for our custom machine department. Applicants must have a mechanical engineering degree, 10+ years experience in a similar capacity with strong background in 3D CAD modeling, 2D drawings and cross-functional collaboration with machining and fabrication.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and develop complete machines, tools, components, etc. that conform to design specifications, collaborating with customers to develop design specifications that are obtainable.Research, design and evaluate products, equipment, systems and processes to meet customer requirements, applying knowledge of engineering and technical principles.Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD).Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.Confer with other personnel and provide technical information.Specify components to ensure conformance with design and performance specifications.Prepare detailed work orders, drawings and other documents for production.Order materials as required.Produce technical reference manuals.Complete AS9100 documentation and other customer specific documents as required.Other responsibilities as requiredSKILLS and CAPABILITIESQuality Management System - Understand applicable AS9100 proceduresTechnology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics.Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Office, Autodesk, SolidWorks and other CAD software.Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of parts and equipment.Administration and Management - Knowledge of management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and production methods.Critical Thinking - Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Active Listening- Giving full attention to what other
