Position Summary:The Intern Process Engineer position is responsible for performing engineering duties both on the floor and in the office. This role involves troubleshooting recurring issues, recommending solutions, and implementing corrective actions. The intern will assist in developing and maintaining data on process conditions, support the Job Approval Process based on the Production Schedule, and manage the trial process including DOE's and coordination of scheduling, samples, and staffing. This position supports all production efforts by providing engineering suggestions, solutions, and process improvements.

Recommends process settings to improve or maintain current process capability.Establishes process conditions for new equipment and processes.Maintains records of process and trial conditions, coordinates samples and feedback.Recommends and analyzes process equipment improvements.Reviews and approves the process section of Production Work Orders.Maintains extruder barrel and screw for all extrusion lines and extruder dies.Procures parts needed for feeders, pelletizers, and extruders.Works to improve the processing of all materials to ensure quality and production efficiency.Assists production personnel in troubleshooting equipment.Represents the company with suppliers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.Prepares and presents reports on process capability and project status.Safety, Environment, and Quality Assurance Responsibilities:

Complies with all Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Laboratory management systems.Supports compliance with regulatory and company OH&S and EMS requirements.Reports hazards, incidences, and accidents to the supervisor/manager and Plant Safety department.Experience and Education:Experience

A minimum of 1 year of work-related experience is needed. Co-op work and internships will be considered as work experience.Prior extrusion experience is a plus.Education

B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Other engineering disciplines will be considered, depending on experience.Associate Engineering degrees accepted with previous Advanced Composite experience.Required Skills/Licenses/Certificates:

Basic project management skills.Good statistical analysis skills.Six-sigma certification preferred.Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.Technical Skills and Knowledge:

Strong background in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.Basic project management experience.Basic PC skills using MS Office.Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required.Work Environment:
