JOB SUMMARY: The Research Chemist/Metallurgist will lead a research project and work actively to deliver the solution for both customers and the market by following proper testing standards and laboratory procedures. The Research Chemist/Metallurgist is also responsible to assist the supervisor to finish assigned work, and to collaborate on laboratory, department and company needs actively.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

Understand and follow electronic industry practices in soldering, sintering, surface mount technology, semiconductor packaging, thermal interface interconnections, etc.

Utilize the knowledge and seek the sources to lead the research project

Design, implement, adjust, and finish an executable Design of Experiment (DOE) in the research project successfully

Analyze and find the root-cause of the failure and propose a feasible solution

Operate equipment, prepare the samples and collect the data correctly by following the testing standards and the laboratory procedure

Document the details of materials preparation, experimental procedures and all the data

Process data and present the results correctly

Collaborate efficiently with Collaborate efficiently with Operations, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Technical Support and our Customer

Deliver the desired solution based on customer and market need

Support the department and the company on the assigned works

Assist with routine lab maintenance, operation, consumable supplies, etc.

Follow laboratory compliance and site-specific environmental protection requirements, policies and procedures

Attend training as needed or assigned

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline with 6 years related technical experience required or Master’s degree in technical discipline with 2 years related technical experience preferred. Technical discipline defined as chemistry, metallurgy, material science, or engineering.

Effectively communicate with member of the team and the organization

Strong computing skills on data collecting and processing

Experience in safety, quality assurance, and best engineering and laboratory practices

Knowledge of DOE, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Failure Analysis (FA)

“Hands on” machine operation and test experience

Demonstrated ability to complete a wide-variety of assignments in a manufacturing lab environment with a minimum level of support and direction

Ability to read and understand product design and fabrication documentation

Ability to document design changes for specifications per standards

Ability to work independently with verbal or written instructions

Ability to perform under pressure

Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

WAGE DISCLOSURE:

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.

$70,000 - $116,000 annually
