Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: : Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred, but must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a mechanical engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, Undersea Mission Solutions, youll be a member of and may lead a cross functional team responsible for the development of electronic and mechanical packaging design, and validation, including: structural and thermal analysis, shock and vibration, and design for manufacturability.

  • Working knowledge of computer aided analysis tools (thermal, CFD, structural), such as Ansys;
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design tools (3D, 2D, layout), such as Creo;
  • Experience with small form factor, high power electromechanical elements;
  • Self-starting, detail-focused, problem solver;
  • Experience with high-pressure applications, including sealing technologies;
  • Dynamic Modeling utilizing MatLab;
