Job Description

The Product Designer I will perform the following:

  • Generate the complete product design for major programs maximizing design and modeling productivity, including leadership of Drafters and/or Designers on a design team.
  • Prepare comprehensive solid models, drawings and layouts of piece parts, units, or assemblies of unusual, complex, or original concepts in design from engineering data requiring a high degree of precision and expertise.
  • Monitor and report program progress and take appropriate action to react to deviations from plan.
  • Develop construction concepts for products that meet overall business goals.
  • Generate business opportunity ideas such as work productivity enhancement, product cost improvement, cost avoidance, R&Q improvements, and new business ideas.
  • Prepare bill of materials and input information into the SAP system.
  • Assist in training and checking work of other drafters as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Some responsibility for technical direction to others who assist on specific work assignments.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands on experience with Pro Engineer or similar 3-D solid modeling software, University Degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design preferred.
  • High level of self-motivation and integrity.
  • Effective and professional communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, collaborate and brainstorm with other team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Pro/E.
  • Expertise in SAP EC process transactions. Variant Configuration experience a plus.
