Our client, a leader in natural gas utility engineering and design, is seeking a dedicated CAD Technician to join their team. As a CAD Technician, you will be an integral part of the engineering support team, contributing to the development of precise construction drawings, system maps, and 3D models. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to collaboration, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: CAD Technician

Location: Austin, TX

Pay Range: Up to $43/hour depending on experience

Shift: Monday Friday; 8:00 am 5:00 pm

What's the Job?

  • Create, update, and manage natural gas utility design drawings including plans and profiles for gas main and service installations
  • Convert engineer redlines and markups into complete drawing deliverables
  • Import, clean, and format civil CAD files provided by developers
  • Incorporate survey, GIS, and SUE data into models to ensure accuracy
  • Generate utility profiles, elevations, and perform clearance checks to meet project standards

What's Needed?

  • Associates Degree or certificate in CAD, Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design, or similar field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including alignments, surfaces, profiles, and pipe networks
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans and survey data accurately
  • Working knowledge of utilities such as gas, water, and telecom systems
  • Understanding of basic geometry and construction plans to support design accuracy
