As a Conformal Coating Engineer within IGNITE, you will work in the Severn Operations Manufacturing Team providing support to internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities:
Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to develop solutions for product ruggedization, typically for board assemblies using polymerics.
Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to execute Design for Manufacturability Reviews (DFM)
Will review Engineering documentation and generate process flow charts, manufacturing travelers, and work instructions. Works closely with Engineering to update documentation.
Creates processes to ensure products can be built reliably and efficiently. This includes identification of tooling needed to support manufacturing efforts.
Identifies facility, employee and equipment required to execute manufacturing work
o Configure labs based on current manufacturing work requirements.
o Evaluate, order, and setup new or existing equipment.
o Provides mentorship and training to personnel in support of new processes and use of equipment.
Will be hands on with prototype, NPI and production builds.
Works closely with Project Management and Functional Managers in support of labor and material estimates and project schedules.
Will support environmental testing, reliability and failure analysis. Bachelors Degree and minimum 8 years of experience as a manufacturing materials and process engineer or any related engineering discipline.
Strong Knowledge with Polymerics, Coatings, Tapes and Lamination, Experienced in identifying materials and processes to support ruggedization of products. This includes underfill, staking, bonding, potting and conformal coating processes.
Experience with selecting the appropriate tools, PPE and facility requirements to perform the polymerics work.
Experience identifying and setting up automated equipment to automate the polymerics process.
Experience generating work instructions or travelers that will meet the NASA-STD-8739.1 requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance Bachelors degree with 10+ years of Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering experience.
IPC-610 and IPC-620 w/space addendum, NASA-STD-8739.1, J-STD-001 w/space addendum, IPC-CC-830 preferred.
Monitor process yields, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics. Identifying solutions to manufacturing problems related to materials, design, and equipment.
Hands on experience building ruggedized Electro-Mechanical prototype assemblies
Oversite of manufacturing labs and mentorship of personnel.
Familiar with board assembly processes.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving non-conforming product issues.
Efficiently uses MS Office tools
Active Secret security clearance
