In this role, you will perform duties of design engineering, stress analysis, and drafting of of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) including handling, lifting, testing, assembly, and transportation fixtures. You will participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure. Must be a US Citizen; this position is located at a facility that requires special access. Responsibilities include:
* Use Creo to develop models, assemblies, and drawings.
* Perform structural analysis calculations.
* Collaborate with a multi-discipline production environment team to support the assembly of the Orion Spacecraft.
* Lead design reviews to present the designs to stakeholder for approval.
* Conduct on-site verification of as-built hardware.* Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
* Professional experience using a 3D CAD system (Creo, NX SolidWorks, etc.);
* Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, mechanisms, material properties & selection, and analysis techniques.
* Minimum of 2+ years of experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards and its application in design and drafting.
* US Citizenship Required to perform the role* Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment) of MGSE of special tooling.
* Use NASTRAN and/or hand calculations to develop finite element models, assemblies, and data packages.
* Manufacturing and ATLO experience.
* Experience working with teams on cross-level projects/multidisciplinary product development teams.
* Working Knowledge of EPDM and LM Space command media.
* Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, AIAA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems.
* Demonstrated project leadership experience, including ownership of deliverables within multidisciplinary teams.
