Job Description

The Robotics Equipment Engineer will support a new megafactory campus by focusing on KUKA robotics and systems integration within an industrial automation environment. This role designs, integrates, and optimizes robotic equipment and control systems, with a strong emphasis on KUKA robots and the interfaces to welding, fastening, and testing equipment. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and scalable automation solutions across a multi-building manufacturing campus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, and commission KUKA robotic systems for industrial automation applications within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and implement robotics integration strategies that ensure seamless operation between KUKA robots and associated production equipment.
  • Configure and optimize robotic programs to support automated processes such as welding, fastening, and testing operations.
  • Integrate KUKA robots with weld guns (spot), weld controllers, Atlas Copco fastening tools, Hipot testers, CTS leak testers, and related automation equipment.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to interface KUKA robotics with Siemens PLCs and control architectures, including TIA Portal where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot robotics and control system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Support the installation, testing, and validation of new robotic equipment and automation cells across the megafactory campus.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation for robotic systems, including integration schematics, configuration details, and operating procedures.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve system performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation efficiency and standardize robotics integration practices across the facility.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with KUKA robotics, including programming, setup, and troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
  • Proven in robotics integration and systems integration within industrial automation.
  • Practical experience in industrial automation, with a focus on integrating robotic equipment into production processes.
  • Knowledge of controls engineering principles as they relate to robotic systems and automated equipment.
  • Ability to integrate KUKA robots with welding, fastening, and testing equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving robotics and control system issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and production teams in a manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Siemens PLCs and control systems, including TIA Portal, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Siemens-based control architectures and PLC programming for automation applications.
  • Experience interfacing KUKA robots with weld guns (spot), weld controllers, Atlas Copco fastening tools, Hipot testers, CTS leak testers, and similar equipment.
  • in controls engineering, including configuration and integration of PLCs, robots, and peripheral devices.
  • Exposure to large-scale manufacturing or megafactory environments with multi-building campuses.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving automation requirements and support long-term, scalable integration solutions.

Work Environment

The role is based at a new megafactory campus located approximately 3040 minutes west of Houston in Brookshire. The facility consists of multiple buildings and a large-scale industrial manufacturing environment focused on advanced automation. The engineer works on-site around production equipment, KUKA robotic systems, Siemens-based control systems, weld guns, weld controllers, Atlas Copco fastening tools, Hipot testers, CTS leak testers, and other industrial automation technologies. The environment is typical of a modern manufacturing plant, with active production areas, automated cells, and collaborative work with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pattison, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
