Manufacturing Technician - Melting Townley 1st Shift: 7am - 430pm, M-F Additional overtime available as business requires Compensation: $16 per hour Purpose of Role: All Foundry positions perform a combination of the following duties; creating molds, melting metal, pouring metal into molds, removing castings from molds, moving foundry materials, moving sand, castings, or other materials through the foundry by crane and forklift. Essential Job Functions: Pack sand molds and pour molten metals into sand molds Break up sand molds and slag Ability to apply mold coating, ramming/packing sand molds, closing, furnace operations, and shakeout Skim slag from surface of molten metal Remove gates, sprues and other projections from castings Measure out correct amounts of materials for furnace and loads charge Monitor the pouring of molten metal into molds and other forms to create castings with the help of ladles and hand-operated equipment. Carefully track the temperature gauges and color, heating units, furnace flames, etc. to melt metal as per requirements. Clean castings and patterns Follow oral and written instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projects Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture. Requirements: Ability to proactively troubleshoot problems Work as a team within department and with other departments and Leads Ability to work in a team setting Ability to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies Required Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products. Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time. Work Environment: Manufacturing environment: loud noise levels, high temperatures, dirt and sand, Required PPE: steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, dust masks, and/or respirators.
