Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role involves complete product design, analysis, and development of mechanical components and systems, from concept through to manufacturing release. The engineer will conduct FEA and FMEA, incorporate customer feedback, and develop supporting technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the design, analysis, and development of mechanical components and systems.
  • Conduct FEA and FMEA to strengthen product design and development.
  • Develop technical documentation and electronic help files for new product introductions.
  • Train and mentor engineers, providing technical leadership.
  • Manage one or more engineering projects and recommend emerging technologies.
  • Review and improve departmental engineering processes and policies.
  • Create and present mechanical design concepts to cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Document Control to produce comprehensive design packages.
  • Ensure product quality through effective testing methodologies and validation procedures.
  • Test and evaluate finished products to verify performance and compliance.
  • Review manufacturing workflows and quality checkpoints for proper fabrication.
  • Develop and execute testing and validation plans for reliability and safety.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports by analyzing design data and performance metrics.
  • Analyze existing designs for improvements and optimization opportunities.
  • Research mechanical engineering challenges and verify compliance with requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in mechanical design and SolidWorks for design and analysis.
  • Experience in injection molded plastic and sheet metal design.
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering and electro/mechanical packaging.
  • Ability to conduct FEA analysis and DFMEA.
  • Knowledge of product lifecycle, design validation, and manufacturability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience with PCB layout and electronics packaging.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and validation testing methods.
  • Experience in designing consumer products and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Skilled in advanced drafting terminology and symbols.

Work Environment

The position offers a progressive work environment similar to a 'Google' environment, with good employee benefits and opportunities for growth. It is based on Long Island, with normal first shift hours (9 to 5) and flexibility based on candidate schedule. The company provides an on-site cafeteria for employees.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Melville, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
