NPI Engineer I Work Location: Marlborough MA 01752 Assignment Duration: 6 Months Work Arrangement: Onsite Position Summary: The NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer I is responsible for supporting the development, validation, and implementation of new products and manufacturing processes. This role ensures that projects are executed in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO), while meeting timelines, cost targets, and scope objectives. The position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficient and effective product launches using best-in-class engineering and project management practices. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the optimization, validation, and implementation of new product introductions and manufacturing processes within the plant environment. Support the development of manufacturing processes that are safe, reproducible, and scalable to meet business growth needs. Participate in validating process changes, ensuring proper execution in alignment with the established Quality System. Contribute to problem-solving initiatives by supporting planning activities and providing technical input for effective solutions. Help design, implement, and validate fixtures, tooling, and specialized equipment required for process improvements and new product launches. Attend cross-functional project meetings to identify process challenges and support timely resolution. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and other stakeholders to improve productivity and reduce scrap and rework. Support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) activities related to NPI projects. Perform engineering studies on materials and processes, investigating nonconformities and proposing corrective actions. Execute functional testing of raw materials in accordance with First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements. Use project management tools and methodologies to support timely and successful project completion. Assist in training production personnel on quality standards, including acceptance and rejection criteria. Maintain and update quality documentation and support the creation of procedures to integrate new processes. Apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve production efficiency. Support supplier evaluation and selection to ensure compliance with product specifications and quality expectations. Qualification & Experience: Strong perseverance and results-oriented mindset Effective communication and active listening skills Good judgment and decision-making ability Basic understanding of business operations Strong organizational and time management skills Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electromechanical). Experience in Manufacturing may offset the educational requirement. 0 - 2 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineering capacity Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Basic knowledge of Electromechanical, Pneumatic and Software systems. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles preferred. Knowledge of project management techniques. Knowledge of IPC standards (electrical) and ANSI, GDT (mechanical). Ability to use problem-solving tools (SPC, TQM, etc.) to optimize processes. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and approaches in the form of proposals, plans and presentations. Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced level preferred) Familiarity with: o AutoCAD o SolidWorks o Minitab o Microsoft Project or equivalent tools o Visio Working Conditions & Physical Demands (If Applicable): Manufacturing/production environment with cross-functional collaboration Regular interaction with engineering, quality, and operations teams
