Position Title: Lead Engineer

Job Description:

Oversee development and maintenance for a subset of backend web services that support mobile and web e-commerce products. Build a deep understanding of existing systems. Participate in, or lead design review with peers and stakeholders. Write code as needed and delegate tasks to team members. Review code developed by other developers, providing feedback on style, functional correctness, testability, and efficiency. Triage system-wide issues and identify root cause of incidents. Work with Principal Architects to plan and develop the Architectural Runway in support of new business features. Identify and resolve existing critical and technical debt. Build transparent systems with proper monitoring, observability, and alerting. Plan for robust build, test, and deployment automation. Work with product stakeholders and frontend developers to understand the essence of requirements and to provide pragmatic solutions. Work within an Agile framework. Position is fixed location based in Parsippany, NJ office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or a directly related field plus five (5) years of building/designing/supporting highly available web services. Experience must include:

Five (5) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently)

Java stack, including the Spring framework or JBoss.

Three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently)

Understanding of distributed systems - performance bottlenecks, fault tolerance, and data consistency concerns.

Experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations.

Experience with cloud environments and AWS to deploy and manage applications.

Experienced in building microservices, implementing Cl/CD pipelines, and applying best practices for security, scalability and performance in AWS.

Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing relational databases using PostgreSQL.

Writing complex SQL queries, indexing strategies, performance tuning, and ensuring data integrity.

Experience building mission critical, highly available systems running 24x7.

40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm.
