The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer will conduct testing, commissioning, start up and troubleshooting on various mechanical systems related to industrial buildings. This includes HVAC, industrial water supply, compressed air, nitrogen, firefighting, drainage and other buildings utilities. The primary function of this role is to successfully accomplish testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up and troubleshooting of mechanical systems across Gigafactory Nevada.

Participate in Construction Completion and Quality Inspection walkdowns, develop deficiencies lists, and ensure systems are handed over to the commissioning team. Perform on-site testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning activities, and troubleshooting on various equipment, including equipment-level, sub-system-level, and integrated system testing, with a focus on safety

Complete equipment-related commissioning checklists on the Completions Management System and perform wet commissioning with water, inert media, or process fluids

Work closely with vendors to ensure commissioning quality within their scope and perform measurement and verification of streams (Air, Water, fluids) via local and remote instrumentation

Follow detailed commissioning and flushing procedures, remove flanges and pipework as needed, and dynamically test equipment and systems

Coordinate activities with operations, facilities engineering, and maintenance, ensuring alignment across departments

Must be a motivated self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, superior communication, and team skills, and have detailed knowledge of MEP Systems, including Chillers, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Water softening plants, RO, Air Compressors, Dryers, and Fire Fighting Equipment

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or equivalent experience

Minimum of 3-5 years in mechanical systems commissioning, installation, or maintenance, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment

Relevant certifications in mechanical systems commissioning, HVAC, or similar fields (e.g., ASHRAE, AABC, NEBB)

Ability to work in various environments, including construction and operational sites

Ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs/ladders, and standing for extended periods

Ability to carry tools and equipment to the site

Ability to wear and use all PPE, including hard hats, boots, and other safety equipment, and work at heights
