Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a senior mechanical engineer for Guidance, you'll be a member of a cross functional team working on projects that support some of our nations fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will perform complex mechanical design and development in such areas as cabinets, consoles, electronic enclosures, sensors, and integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) electronic equipment. They will support the build, test, and qualification of mechanical components and assemblies. They will also help document all design solutions and changes as required per American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and military standards.

Technical drawing knowledge: drawing standards, tolerancing, GD&T (Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Cable and Harness Design
Design for Manufacturability

Clear understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, and theories

Good ability to be a team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success, meeting and exceeding personal and team commitments
Duties and Tasks:
Performs design and development in such areas as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines and/or machines
Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
