Description: As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will oversee the end-to-end mechanical design of a complex missile system under development. This will include management of mechanical interfaces, resolution of mechanical integration issues through coordination between suppliers and internal design teams through all phases of the lifecycle. Day to day activities will include technical leadership of a multi site team, planning future activities, briefing leadership on progress and challenges, and driving integrated technical solutions to closure.
In this role, you will:
Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure.
Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities.
Generate and release drawings using CAD software.
Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers.
Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards.
Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands on experience).
At least1year of professional engineering experience.
Strong grasp of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structures, materials, and analytical methods.
Mechanical design and/or manufacturing background with proven ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering design drawings.
Proficiency with engineering CAD tools (e.g., Creo, I DEAS, SolidWorks) and familiarity with model based product definition (MBD).
Ability to thrive in an environment with evolving requirements and dynamic schedules.
Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain or maintain a DOD Secret security clearance- Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience
- Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation
- Experience with test methods, planning and execution
- Experience working with other LM operating units
- Experience working with suppliers
- Functions well in a creative, high-tempo, collaborative, cross-functional, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary environment
