The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team at Tesla is looking for a highly-motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and ramp of cell manufacturing equipment and processes for our cutting-edge Tesla Energy Batteries. The Battery is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured at Tesla. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Teslas world class manufacturing facilities. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem of an incredibly exciting product. In addition to developing working on ramping the line the Manufacturing Engineer works with cross-functional teams to test, validate, and roll-out equipment to production. Drive development of new/innovative manufacturing processes from proof of concept through to full scale production

Work with internal and external teams to develop process, product and equipment design solutions to advance battery performance and cell manufacturing

Plan and Execute DoEs to characterize boundary conditions and optimize process for manufacturability and quality

Perform design reviews with internal and external vendors, develop and manage PFMEA, DFMEA risk assessments to ensure robust equipment design development

Use tools like Minitab/JMP for data analysis and presentation of experimental data

Establish process controls for SPC and develop process related OCAPs

Plan and conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) for new or modified equipment

Degree in Science or equivalent relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent

5+ years in Manufacturing Process Engineering, Automation Engineering, preferably in Battery, automotive or high-volume component production

Experience with Metal forming/Stamping/ Laser welding / dispensing applications is preferred

Proficiency in GD&T, SPC, MSA, FMEA / PFMEA, Simulation, statistical process control JMP capability analysis (Cp / Cpk), and control plans

Experience with 3D CAD (CATIA, Solidworks) needed

Knowledge of metrology systems (inline/offline)

In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

Experience with equipment buy-offs and process capability validation

Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Expected Compensation $91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
