Job Description

We are seeking a Mass Properties Engineer to join our dynamic Mechanical and Energetics department. In this role, you will work in a collaborative environment with diverse teams to model the mass properties of various launch vehicles. Your contributions will ensure mission success by meeting critical performance and weight requirements, impacting national security and advancing scientific exploration both on land and in space. This position offers early-career professionals hands-on experience with advanced aerospace systems and opportunities for innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Mass Properties Models for launch vehicles and subsystems.
  • Perform weight and balance analysis, including estimating and optimizing mass properties for launch systems.
  • Establish design target weights and track compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain mass properties accounting systems and provide trend analysis for program leadership.
  • Support proposal evaluations, design reviews, and component weighing and verification to improve the accuracy of estimates.
  • Present findings in technical and program reviews.
  • Engage regularly with other groups and departments to gather information and communicate status.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in mass properties and weight and balance analysis.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Space, or Military DOD environments.
  • Familiarity with analysis engineering, including structural, stress, strain, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Basic understanding and usage of CAD software, specifically Siemens NX.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 0-5 years of experience in Aerospace, Space, or Military DOD sectors.
  • 0-5 years of experience performing weight and balance analysis or any related analysis engineering.

Work Environment

The work involves designing and launching various missions for government and military customers, including defensive systems like the Next Generation Interceptor and the GBSD Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, now known as LGM-35 Sentinel. Most of the work is conducted in an office setting, with occasional tasks in lab testing or manufacturing environments. Our 9/80 schedule allows for flexibility and productivity, offering employees a three-day weekend every other week while requiring longer workdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
