Aeromechanics EngineerPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Aeromechanics Engineer to lead analysis and design efforts for rotary-wing aircraft systems. The successful candidate will develop and validate models of rotor dynamics and aerodynamics, perform high-fidelity CFD and FEA studies, and integrate flight dynamics insights into airframe and rotor system design. This role combines technical leadership, hands-on simulation and test support, and active contribution to proposals and published research to advance our rotary-wing capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate, and apply rotor dynamics models to predict rotor behavior, loads, stability, and vibration for rotary-wing platforms.Perform aerodynamic analyses using CFD to characterize rotor and airframe flows, including rotorwake interactions and unsteady aerodynamics.Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to assess structural response, stress, and modal characteristics of rotor and related components.Integrate flight dynamics and control considerations into aeromechanics studies to evaluate handling qualities, stability, and performance.Lead design trade studies and optimization efforts to improve rotor efficiency, noise, and durability.Support ground and flight test planning, instrumentation, data analysis, and correlation between test results and simulation predictions.Prepare technical content for bids and proposals, including scope, technical approach, and cost/effort estimates; support business development during bidding cycles.Author and present technical reports, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications; represent the organization at conferences and technical forums.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (structures, controls, propulsion, systems engineering) and mentor junior engineers to deliver integrated solutions.Maintain awareness of emerging methods and tools in rotorcraft aeromechanics and recommend process improvements and best practices.QualificationsBachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred for senior research roles.Demonstrated expertise in Rotor Dynamics with hands-on experience modeling rotor systems and predicting aeroelastic behavior.Strong background in Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for rotorcraft applications; experience with tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or similar.Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Nastran, Abaqus, or equivalent software for structural and modal analysis.Experience with Flight Dynamics of rotary-wing aircraft, including handling qualities analysis and simulation of coupled rotorairframe dynamics.Practical rotary wing experience (military or commercial helicopter programs) with familiarity of rotorcraft subsystems and flight test operations.Proven experience preparing Bidding and Proposals, including developing technical approaches, estimating effort, and responding to RFPs.A track record of Published Research in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings related to aeromechanics, rotorcraft aerodynamics, or related fields.Strong programming and scripting skills (MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent) for model development, data processing, and automation.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical material to technical and non-technical stakeholders.5+ years of relevant industry or research experience preferred; demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.BenefitsBenefitsBonus Opportunities401KPTOProfit Sharing
