The Role -

Amphenol Commercial Air is seeking a Design Engineer to work out of itsstate-of-the-art facility in Sidney, NY.

The Design Engineer must have the ability to make design layouts andproduction drawings. Must be capable of assuring form, fit, and function ofcomponents through dimensional studies, and correlate engineering data tocustomer specifications.

The key responsibilities of the Design Applications Engineer include, but arenot limited to:

Prepares designs and specifications. Assists in generation of layouts.Interfaces with other departments for the manufacturing and testing ofsamples.Interfaces with customers and vendors to assure conformance to customerspecifications.Possess a working knowledge of PTC Creo and Windchill.Ability to make drawings for production and customers.Coordinate the manufacturing of customer prototypes.Perform the functions required to process estimate requests and marketingproduct requests.Review customer documents for compliance with ACAD documents and ifnecessary, prepare new designs to conform to these documents.Travel to customers, suppliers and sister divisions as needed, anticipatedto be minimal.Keep supervision informed of status of all activities on a periodic basis.Works closely with the Business Development and Product Managers of variousbusiness units.

Salary: $62,354 - $85,000

The key skills and qualities of a Design Engineer at Amphenol Commercial Air:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related fieldExperience in design or design engineeringExperience with AutoCAD and/or Creo is preferred but not requiredCommunications with customers, marketing, manufacturing, quality, process,purchasing, and experimental personnel.Prepares and checks drawings as required and processes changes.Performs engineering investigations of manufacturing/quality problems.Works from either written or oral instructions, with a minimum ofsupervision.Work collaboratively with others on the design engineering team toaccomplish required tasks to support the interests of the business.Ability to maintain dedicated focus on intricate details of engineeringdesigns.Willingness to contribute extra effort in support of critical businessopportunities.Sitting and typing for long periods of time.Ability to travel, less than 10%.
