Senior Manufacturing/CPI Engineer

Reports To: Director of Quality and Engineering

Supervises: Manufacturing Engineer

Summary Statement: The Manufacturing/CPI Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, supply chain, and design teams to support existing operations and new product introductions.

Essential Job Functions

Design, develop, and improve manufacturing methods, processes, and workflows.

Analyze production metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and cost improvement.

Lead the costing effort on new projects/contracts as it pertains to direct labor pricing models and material utilization.

Review, enhance, and develop methods to make job functions accessible to people who are blind (Job Conversion).

In conjunction with the Quality Department, is responsible for conformance to new product specifications of PDMs and first articles, enacting quality control procedures to ensure quality standards are achieved.

Responsible for all training in manufacturing operations through the manufacturing engineer.

Work as project manager as assigned.

Troubleshoot and help to resolve manufacturing issues related to materials, equipment, and processes.

Responsible for developing and executing measurable annual goals tied to manufacturing efficiency, quality, and profitability.

Lead strategic continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve operational margin, throughput, and scalability.

Lead process validations, capability studies, time studies and root cause analyses in support of increased efficiencies that will support consistent production goals

Lead equipment selection, layout design, optimization, tooling, and automation projects.

Partner with executive leadership to align manufacturing engineering strategy with long-term business growth objectives.

Own the development of plans to achieve productivity, labor efficiency, cost reduction, material efficiency, and process improvement objectives.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Must be able to accurately perform time studies.

Must be able to determine costing to make a product.

Must be able to determine proper staffing to make a product at different production targets.

Must be able to balance a product line for the optimum output.

Must be able to professionally encourage, motivate, and facilitate cooperation and teamwork to reach a common goal.

Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to read and comprehend product specifications and drawings.

Must possess strong leadership skills

Must be detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Must be able to work with a since of urgency in a fast pasted production environment to complete projects in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related engineering field

Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production systems, and industrial equipment

Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

Project Management experience

Required to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with 3D modeling and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (MS Dynamics 365)

Experience with automation, 3D printing, CNC and robotics

Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to stand, walk, and move between office and production floor environments.

Must have the ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. occasionally

Must have the visual acuity and manual dexterity required for equipment and process evaluations.
