Senior Optical Engineer leads the design, validation, and launch of automotive headlamp and signal lamp systems for heavy-duty OEM applications. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field

Extensive experience in optical engineering design for automotive headlamps and/or signal lamps

Experience with automotive lighting manufacturing processes, including injection molding, plastic part assembly, and coatings

Advanced experience designing optical systems using LEDs, molded lenses, and molded or metallized reflectors

Extensive hands-on experience testing and validating optical systems or devices

Experience researching and applying regulatory and industry standards including FMVSS 108, UN Regulations R148-R150, and SAE Lighting Systems Group standards

Experience with optical design software such as LucidShape, Zemax, SPEOS, or similar tools

Experience with CAD software; Creo preferred, Catia or NX acceptable

Advanced application of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis

Experience performing or coordinating vibration, static, and thermal FEA using ANSYS Mechanical or similar tools

Experience performing or coordinating thermal CFD analysis using FloEFD or similar tools

Experience performing or coordinating mold flow analysis using MoldEx, Autodesk Moldflow, or similar tools

Experience with part measurement and dimensional analysis using PolyWorks or similar tools

Preferred Skills Master's degree in a related technical field

Creo experience

Experience supporting supplier validation and sourced component qualification

Experience supporting quoting for new or revised business

Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and quality issues in lighting production

Job Responsibilities Lead design and development of new or improved headlamp and signal lamp systems

Collaborate with project teams to meet regulatory, customer, performance, durability, quality, manufacturing, and cost targets

Design and simulate optical systems using LEDs, molded lenses, and molded or metallized reflectors

Perform or coordinate testing and validation of lamps and components using goniometers, integrating spheres, spectroradiometers, and related equipment

Research, interpret, and apply relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards

Develop, improve, and document design, simulation, and testing standards related to lamp mechanical and optical design

Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve process and quality issues

Work with purchasing to source components, validate suppliers, and ensure purchased parts meet specification, standards, cost, and supply requirements

Support sales with quoting activities, including part and capital cost estimates and technical input for customer discussions

Mentor engineers and team members in quoting, design, manufacturing processes, validation, and engineering best practices
