Job Description
Major Purpose:Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors. Major Duties:? Applies knowledge of company products, policies and practices to provide economies through standardization of parts and products. ? Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. ? Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel. ? Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation. ? Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations. ? Executes high level applications to more complex problems. ? Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope. Skills, Abilities, Knowledge: ? Skill in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools. ? Skill in using company information systems and processes. ? Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge. ? Understanding of engineering principles as they relate to the company product ? Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. ? Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors. ? Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP). Education: ? Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent) ? Degree in a Science discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent) ? Degree in an Agricultural Sciences discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent) Work Experience: ? Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. (1 - 3 years) ? Engineering experience. (1 - 3 years) ? Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. (1 - 3 years) ? Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. (1 - 3 years) ? Product engineering experience. (1 - 3 years)
Position Title: Product Engineer II
Specific Position Requirements: **Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the near future, for this position.**
Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM - May require working OT when requested.
Onsite at *** Turf Care (Fuquay-Varina, NC) 4 days of the week
Looking for an Engineer with both Mechanical and Electrical skillsets combined
Top Skills:
PTC Creo modeling
2+ years in mechanical design, 2+ years in electrical design
Capable of physical assembly and/or repair of equipment (several machines builds in the shop and upgrades in the future planned)
Preferred, but not required:
Previous experience with Deere
Casting design
Plastics design
Mechanical or mechatronics design or software writing experience
Job Requirements:
Support the requirements development and testing of certain electrical components (Lights and Alarms)
May provide additional support for our Electrical Engineering team for Precision Turf related tasks
Support electrical diagnostics or data collection on equipment
Drawings development and possibly managing PDM workflow for parts
Hands-on operation, building, and repair of equipment
Design experience with off-highway or similar equipment
Electrical design or software experience
*Would be responsible for subsystem design (parts modeling in creo, drawings for prototype shop or suppliers) for mowers and battery electrical commercial mowers
*Support designs with calculations, virtual analysis, decision analysis, feedback from others
*Integrates knowledge of product usage in to design to improve customer experience
*Works with the product design team daily as well as other functional areas like Marketing, Program management, Test Engineers, Systems engineers, etc.
*Would provide hands-on support machine builds and upgrades in the shop or get assistance from the shop for certain tasks with work orders
*May provide in-field support when machines are provided to Marketing for customer feedback
Concepting and prototyping of parts such as brackets, weldments, plastics, or castings
Design and tolerancing of parts
Drawings development and possibly managing PDM workflow for parts
Hands-on operation, building, and repair of equipment
Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering
