JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician I Large Form Assembly (LFA) supports LFA manufacturing operations by assisting with production builds, maintaining manufacturing documentation, and providing hands-on technical support on the manufacturing floor. This role focuses on executing and sustaining established assembly processes, supporting work instructions, and assisting engineers with Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) applications for large, complex assemblies. The technician works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, production teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure accurate execution of manufacturing processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Support the creation, update, and maintenance of manufacturing documentation including work instructions, assembly drawings, exploded views, torque specifications, bills of material, and process flow documents.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in reviewing drawings and manufacturing documentation to identify basic manufacturability and assembly concerns.
- Support standardized assembly methods including fastening practices, torque application, sealing interfaces, and alignment techniques.
- Provide hands-on support for layout and installation of large-form subassemblies such as frames, enclosures, piping, hoses, brackets, and structural components.
- Support build sequencing activities to improve safety, ergonomics, takt time, and labor efficiency.
- Provide direct manufacturing floor support during production builds, assisting with troubleshooting basic fit, interference, and assembly issues.
- Support equipment commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and manufacturing readiness efforts under engineering guidance.
- Assist with documentation updates during NPI builds, production ramps, and sustaining production.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on quality, safety, cost, and standardization.
- Follow all established safety, quality, and documentation control procedures.
- Associates Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related technical discipline; Bachelors Degree a plus.
- 02 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, engineering technician, or production support roles.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and assembly prints; exposure to GD&T preferred.
- Exposure to manufacturing or assembly environments through work experience, internships, or technical training.
- Experience supporting or updating work instructions, standard work, or visual aids is a plus.
- Familiarity with hand tools, torque tools, fixtures, lifting devices, or assembly aids.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and safety practices (e.g., OSHA fundamentals).
- Foundational knowledge of manufacturing operations and assembly processes.
- Experience using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent) for viewing or redlining documentation.
- Basic understanding of fastening methods, torque concepts, and assembly sequencing.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to follow defined processes and escalate issues appropriately.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work within cross-functional production teams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and supporting extended production shifts.
