How You'll Contribute:
The Senior Design Engineer (DE) is a key member of the Design Engineering group within the Electronic Security Systems (ESS) team, serving as lead engineer on commercial design projects. The DE supports the entire project lifecycle-from initial sales concepts through design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. Acting as a technical resource, the DE ensures client and system requirements are met and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions.
The role is supported by Solutions Architects and the Director of Engineering, with guidance provided by the Director of ESS Engineering. The DE will hold both primary and supporting responsibilities on complex ESS projects and reports directly to the Director of ESS Engineering.
What You'll Do:
Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations.
Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
Strong Project Engineering (technical project management skills) background and the ability to manage various projects in multi-region.
Support and Lead projects in drafting/modeling of the security floor layouts for access control, video, intrusion, vehicle gate systems, system wiring diagrams, schematics, and back board layouts.
Develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and support documentation for customer RFPs.
Develop detailed 30%, 60%, 90%, 100% IFC, and/or Shop Drawings via AutoCAD and Revit.
Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients.
Perform QC by reviewing drawings and evaluating the need for design changes; make appropriate recommendations.
Ensure that production of drawings meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
DE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance.
Strong understanding of Internal and External project lifecycles.
Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit. The position bears the responsibility to develop long-lasting client partnerships & work with team members to maintain the account on all levels.
Maintains expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars, trainings and educational forums.
Provides guidance and mentorship to Design Engineers and Associate Design Engineers.
Represent ESS Engineering in enterprise-wide initiatives and strategic discussions related to delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Must be able to always maintain a positive attitude and provide constructive feedback when necessary.
Ability to travel to active job sites and provide guidance to supportive and junior roles throughout project life cycles. This includes onsite new hire trainings

Required Skills/Qualifications:
Proven experience leading engineering efforts within ESS domains such as access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
Strong understanding of system integration, project engineering processes, and field-to-office feedback loops.
Skilled in process improvement methodologies, technical governance, and cross-functional coordination.
Effective communicator with the ability to engage internal teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret performance data, identify trends, and drive strategic improvements.
Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and lead engineering teams in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating enterprise-level technology training.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on operational efficiency and documentation quality.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Strong Security Systems, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
5-7+ years of experience in ESS systems design, integration, or engineering required.
2+ years of team leadership or engineering management experience.
Familiarity with platforms such as Lenel, CCure, Honeywell, Brivo, Milestone, ExacqVision, Eagle Eye, Axis, and Hanwha.
Industry certifications in access control or video surveillance (e.g., Lenel Onguard, Milestone, etc.) are a plus.
Experience with enterprise-level networking, IP-based ESS system architecture, AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit.
Experience managing multi-discipline technical teams and supporting regional or enterprise-scale project delivery.
