Electrical Design Engineer

Under general direction of the Director of Engineering, the ElectricalDesign Engineer is responsible for new product electrical design (includingbut not limited to PCB layout, software development, schematic capture andhardware design), product improvements, documentation, production test fixturedesign, reliability analysis, test strategy development as well as providingtechnical expertise and product knowledge using a variety of engineeringdisciplines. The Electrical Design Engineer will also work collaborativelywith other members of the Engineering team to ensure that projects are completedin a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead engineering projects covering the company's range of technology andproduct areasDesign and develop complete devices that integrate mechanical,electrical/electronic componentsInteract with Product Management, Marketing and Customers to fullyunderstand product requirements and develop cost effective and innovativesolutionsCreate solid models and drawings for assembly, components, tooling andfixturing in SolidWorksPerform Finite Element Analysis on high stress componentsWork with internal and external vendors and consultants to create and testfunctional prototypes of new devices, component changes, and design improvementsCreate designs that are aligned with assembly and manufacturingcapabilities; perform Design-for-Manufacturing reviewsPerform product verification and validations according to the defined designinputs and product specificationsDevelop multi-level Bill-of-MaterialsWrite reports, specifications, correspondence, and proceduresEnsure products comply with and are certified to applicable specificationsand regulatory standardsStay abreast of any new technologies, including design software, rules,design practices etc.Develop test strategy and solutions when applicablePerform functional testing and troubleshooting of electronic productsPerform schematic design, analysis, and Simulation of electronic circuitsProvide guidance to internal and external sources for PCB layoutLead and train members of the Design TeamWork closely with a wide variety of internal and external customers todefine, meet or exceed design parameters during the design phase.Interface with customers on test related issues when applicablePerform other tasks as assigned by manager

Job Requirements

BS in Engineering, preferred3+ years of Design Engineering experience, preferredProficient in software tools including Solid Works, 3D CAD modeling andMicrosoft Office applicationsExperience with tools such as FMEA, FEA, DFM and statistical techniques,preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact withstaff at all levels in the organizationExperience with High Voltage design requirements a plusExperience with commodities including: cable harnesses, CNC milling/lathe,PCBA, box-builds, and electronic components, preferredProblem solving, data analysis, deductive reasoning and critical thinkingskills, preferredAbility to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
