Electrode Scientist/Engineer - 2 Openings

Summary

Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets including Li-Ion Batteries. Forge Nano is seeking an Electrode Scientist/Engineer join their Energy Storage Design and Manufacturing Team. This position will focus on the day-to-day electrode process operation of Forge Nano's MWh Battery Prototyping Line.

The Electrode Scientist/Engineer should be prepared to work in fast-paced development and prototyping environment. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working with an interdisciplinary team of scientists, technicians, and engineers. The Electrode Scientist/Engineer will report to the Prototype Line's Lead Engineer.

Experience with Li-ion cell production scale up and Li-ion industrial manufacturing processes are both desirable skill sets.

Skills and Responsibilities

The Electrode Scientist/Engineer may be responsible for tasks and skills such as (non-exhaustive):

  • Lead the electrode production activities on the battery prototyping line, overseeing the entire process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scale up electrode production from lab-scale to pilot line
  • Develop and optimize electrode manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of electrode production data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Troubleshoot and address issues related to electrode production in real-time
  • Work closely with R&D to integrate new electrode technologies into pilot line operations
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the electrode production team
  • Document and maintain detailed records of electrode production processes and procedures
  • Implement safety and quality procedures
  • Develop and maintain SOPs

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field or 5 years' experience working in battery manufacturing
  • 3-5 years' experience in a battery manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading/mentoring junior staff
  • Operate manufacturing equipment hands-on, ensuring smooth processes and addressing issues promptly for reliable production
  • Experience in Lithium-ion Battery development and/or production

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Slot-die coating experience
  • Familiarity with semi-automated cylindrical cell assembly
  • Exposure to safety certification testing

Work Environment

Work predominantly will be in a manufacturing environment. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and in the plant, a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required. Travel

Up to 25% travel in the first year, subsequently 15% travel to vendor/client locations may be required.

Compensation

  • Salary $85,000 - $105,000
