Senior Procurement Engineering Manager

Vertiv is seeking a highly experienced Senior Procurement Engineer in Westerville, OH or Anderson, SC to join our team to lead efforts to streamline production processing times with manufacturing suppliers. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in manufacturing industry, an engineering degree, and a proven track record of partnering with Engineering and manufacturing teams to create a competitive advantage. This role is critical in driving innovation, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of our supplier operational development within our supply base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and manufacturers to develop and implement prototype and product introduction strategies that enhance our competitive edge, particularly in sheet metal production.

  • Lead the Prototype development processes to ensure speed to market and reduced lead times by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the prototype and production sample manufacturing process

  • Develop and manage manufacturing complexity models that align with supplier capabilities to improve product introduction and production delivery performance

  • Build and maintain Executive relationships with strategic suppliers, including pricing process alignment, optimization of manufacturing lead times, manufacturing technology capabilities, available production capacity, and quality performance monitoring.

  • Develop supplier capability matrix and ensure the appropriate sheet metal technologies are ready for launch before needed by for Product Launches

  • Manages the part and product delivery timelines and timing objectives to meet the goals of the Engineering, Offering Management and Procurement organization

  • Identify and drive best practices related to prototype sourcing, pricing and total cost contributors, quality, efficiency, speed and responsiveness.

  • Ability to apply critical analysis of procedures and processes and develop alternate solutions to address supplier production delay risks and challenges

  • Promote development of should cost models using software solutions for new products, prototypes and production parts to ensure speed, cost, and pricing accuracy

  • Partner with suppliers to develop and implement cost models that enable accelerated development of prototypes and production samples for streamlined product introduction.

  • Identify and evaluate materials, manufacturing technologies, automation and production processes to improve manufacturing performance and reduce costs.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams on sheet metal-related issues. Manages the part and product delivery timelines and timing objectives to meet the goals of the Engineering, Offering Management, and Procurement organization

  • Development of end to end product manufacturing process that enables speed to market, easy access for engineering and design for manufacturability guidance

  • Leverage market experience and update industry trends to inform strategic decisions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry, preferably in a direct sheet metal production environment, with a deep knowledge of the manufacturing processes, equipment capability, production technologies, and alternative manufacturing methodologies
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in partnering with Product Development and Engineering teams as well as suppliers
  • Demonstrate proficiency in MS Office applications and strong experience with manufacturing software (e.g. Creo, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Inventor)
  • Experience in Total Cost of Ownership thought process (solutions thinking vs piece part)
  • Ability to develop Key Performance Indicators specific to the delivery performance of engineering samples and prototypes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and cultivate productive and lasting relationships with cross-functional teams and suppliers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a technical aptitude in Fans & Compressors in datacenter application environment
  • Demonstrable experience in developing relationships with vendors, research and development and product development roadmap integration
  • Ability to lead and have the capacity to multi-task, whilst ensuring that the small details are not overlooked.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills are key, along with ability to clearly communication complex scenarios.
  • Requires very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and culture productive and lasting relationships remotely across a global organization.

Time Travel Needed:

  • 30-40% domestic and international travel.
