Position Summary:
Kelly Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our client in Delano, MN. This role demands independent design, development, testing, and improvement of mechanical components and systems. The ideal candidate will have a robust engineering background and problem-solving capabilities, paired with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to drive product development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components using advanced CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, CREO, and AutoCAD inventors.
- Conduct comprehensive engineering analyses, including CFD, FEA, thermal, stress, and tolerance analysis.
- Lead complex engineering projects with minimal supervision and ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
- Evaluate materials and processes to achieve cost, performance, and durability targets.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure high product integrity.
- Support testing and validation of prototypes and final products.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues in development and production environments.
- Mentor junior engineers and review their design work for quality and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as ASME, ISO, and UL.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related degree.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Familiarity with GD&T and drafting standards.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience in project management and leading technical teams is a plus.
- Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production or manufacturing process, including in-process and final inspections.
- Maintain documentation of all inspections and potential issues.
- Assist with problem resolution and suggest process improvements.
