Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III

Job Location: 8 Technology Drive, No. Chelmsford, MA 01863

Duties:

Responsibilities include: Act as the Semiconductor Equipment Mechanical Design Engineer and Group Lead. Active member of the Gas Cluster Ion Beam (GCIB) tool Group. Focus on designing new hardware modules and transitioning prototype mechanical concepts into existing wafer processing equipment. Perform detailed engineering reviews of new designs and prototype module performance against established specifications using formal design and analysis tools such as FEA, DFA, DFM, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis. Assist in creating test plans to verify functional performance and evaluate module robustness as well as life cycle testing. Supervise generation of assembly drawings and associated documentation for the formal release of engineering designs to production. Design process hardware for next generation GCIB and Plasma source tools based on customer and process engineering requirements. Perform evaluation and redesign of new or existing prototypes for performance, design for manufacturability, and cost improvements. Make substantive contributions to decisions regarding design and fabrication and assembly techniques. Evaluate Metals and particle reduction opportunities and redesign. Generate all required layout, assembly, and detail drawings within the guidelines of documented configuration control procedures. Develop and execute performance and life cycle test plans.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Mechanical Engineer III-related occupation.

Position also requires experience in the following:

Experience with 2D & 3D CAD Semiconductor Equipment Design specializing in Vacuum systems, High Voltage electrical systems, Wafer handing systems. Experience with Electro-mechanical Controls, Component selection and testing. Experience with Semiconductor Materials and properties such as silicon, SiC, Y2O3, Molybdenum, Inconel, Peek, Vespel, Ultem etc., as well as familiarity with their electrical properties, impurities and defects. Experience with analog and digital circuits using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create and simulate circuits. Experience with SEMI, ISO, CE, ROHS Industry Standards and Regulations crucial to ensure compliance and maintain high-quality production standards.
