Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing and testing electro-mechanical, pneumatic and fluid systems.
  • Experience using prototyping tools and techniques.
  • Experience with solid-modeling CAD software such as SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Experience designing industrial or lab automated systems.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Knowledge of robotics/automated systems, industrial pneumatics and sensors, biotech equipment and applicable standards is desirable.
  • Understanding of systems with multiple variables.
  • Ability to rapidly design and iterate prototypes and to work directly with vendors to specify, source and integrate components.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to take initiative and take multiple projects in a high-velocity environment, with a commitment to direct, iterative development and improvement.
  • Excellent organizational, team-player and communication skills.
In this role, you will develop our mosquito production, release, and monitor systems including the support of field and partner sites. You will work collaboratively with other engineers, designers, scientists, and manufacturing personnel to complete design projects. You will have direct experience in the design and development of Automated Systems. You will be part of a small, close-knit and team of mosquito biologists, software engineers, and automation experts working to develop better ways to reduce the impact of mosquito-borne diseases. You will be responsible for developing research and development for all processes and products. You will be central to the design, development, deployment, and ongoing improvements of Debug technology across multiple global release programs ensuring effective, efficient, and consistent quality products at all sites.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Design and build automated systems with a wide variety of electromechanical components, including servo systems, pneumatics, sensors, drive components, etc.
  • Manage projects from requirements-identification, to initial design and prototype testing, and through release of production systems.
  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks, including the planning, designing and building of electro-mechanical products, manufacturing and assembly tooling, electrical enclosures and cable assemblies.
  • Design and iterate collaboratively with real-world users and use cases. Test prototypes and released products to verify compliance to design specifications. Investigate and resolve technical problems involving product performance in production equipment.
  • Determine and establish product performance through engineering calculations and layouts, use appropriate engineering tools such as computer aided design (CAD), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), design for automation (DFA).
