Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits' products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Position Summary:
The Mechanical Systems Design Engineer is responsible for designing/improving tools and equipment for manual/automated assembly, inspection, production test systems and, device handlers as applicable to RF and Microwave components assembly and test processes.
Salary Range: $85,600 - $107,000 per year
Job Function:
Design test and assembly related mechanical systems, enclosures, and other necessary accessories according to process specifications and the requirements defined by internal customers.
Analyzes all aspects of targeted test/assembly processes and identifies process candidates where the automation can be justified based on needs for capacity, efficiency and process control.
Provides technical information, definition and process flowcharts of flexible and scalable automation alternatives
Prepares proposals for automation including objective, scope, expected outcome, resources requirements, budgetary cost and project plan
Takes leadership in communication with projects stakeholders during the duration of the project from concept to feasibility study, fabrication, qualification, documentation, user training and release
Manages the project during the design/fabrication cycle and provides scheduled updates
Supports and provides solutions for continuous improvement of the existing automated solutions including implementation of the latest available technologies.
Keeps track of engineering changes and updates the necessary documents
Identify potential problems and notify Team Leader as necessary.
Access engineering data in AS/400 network and documentation room.
Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years' recent experience focusing on Automation and tool design in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication skills, works well with others, and ability to read, write and orally communicate proficiently in English.
Solid experience using Solidworks and AutoCAD as a tool for creating layouts and design, and for generating shop drawings for manufacture.
Familiar with machine shop equipment such as milling machines, Lathe, Grinders.
Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects from start to finish, i.e., manage project schedules and manage the work of the various supporting departments is key.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, etc.)
Knowledge of:
Automation systems, tools, and various machine sensors.
Pneumatic controls and components.
Mechanical tooling and fixturing.
Lean Manufacturing, Project costing & ROI, Efficiency optimization, OEE analysis
Able to define, develop and deploy Automation.
Preferred experience with Automated inspection systems, Feeding and packing systems, Liquid dispensing process, Robotic systems, Integrated automation systems.
A self-starter who can work under pressure in a fast-changing and dynamic environment and work with purpose and a sense of urgency.
The willingness to work beyond standard work hours (in early, stay late, work weekends) in order to meet schedules and commitments.
High degree of organization and commitment to quality and customer service.
Strong personality who can drive projects to completion.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
