Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering (VME) is a multi-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for multiple Subsystems (Electrical, Powertrain, Suspension, Exterior, Interior).
  • Onsite Final Assembly Lead for New Vehicle Launches at Vehicle Manufacturing Plant.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations.
  • Lead team to write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of FAE feasibility issues.
  • Lead development of and delivery to a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of Tooling and Facility projects.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs at vendor facilities.
  • Lead team to identify and resolve launch product and tooling issues.
  • Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
  • Work with multi-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field of study
  • 5+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience required
  • Demonstrated experience within Project Management
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able to travel within North American countries (including USA and Mexico) as required, which may include supporting launch programs.

Preferred Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
  • Understanding of Process Failure Mode Effects Analysts (PFMEA) and failure mode avoidance principles
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIMs, CPARS
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
  • Proficient verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Experience with assembly tooling, processes, and facilities
  • Knowledge of error proofing strategies and systems used in Ford

Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
