Provide Mechanical Development Functional support to teams for hardware development - Develop Lube and Cooling system and components (Cooling System Balancing, Lube System Balancing, Water pump, Lube pump, Thermostat, Oil Cooler etc.) Provide effective testing of components - Plan and schedule hardware testing based on program needs i.e. DVP&R plans, FIRG items, hardware status, and test cell availability for their components. Resolve base engine problems - Provide analytical solutions when possible to help predict next steps. Work with operations, plants, and field test to help solve assembly / hardware issues (hands on). Work closely with Design and/or Stress to update models. Provide Mech Dev support for component releases - Work with system teams to address hardware/design, supplier, and assembly issues. Improve development processes (follow & improve work flow). Work with operations and other cross-functional groups to improve & standardize our work. Use key tools for the development process i.e. McParts, DVP&R, FMEA, etc. Work with team leaders to incorporate Mech Dev needs - Work with plants to get special hardware to them on time for builds and build mech dev engines with minimal plant disruptions. Develop base engine components for D, L, & P phase release for all our different applications/markets - Need to assure releases are on time to develop and support capital/tooling lead-times. Lead/participate in developing bench and rig tests, improve analytical approaches and simulations. Develop acceptance criteria for their parts, based on application, duty cycle and environment. BS, MS, degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Have 2 or more years of engine related experience with 1 or more years in development a plus. Familiarity with the VPI process, source approval requirements, ESW, DVP&R and FIRG processes, Cummins engineering release system, plant deviations, material standards, specifications, IMS, PDM. Have knowledge of some engine sub-systems. Good problem solving skills. User of McParts a plus. Analysis led design experience a plus. Heat Transfer and/or fluid mechanics background a plus but not required
