Description:
1. International role in the Manufacturing Science Group within IPM s R&D organization - Interfacing with internal and external Manufacturing Sites, Quality, Regulatory and Clinical with the objective of progressing IPM products through Phase III clinical trials. 2. Responsible for the development of Vaginal Ring manufacturing processes underpinned by a detailed process understanding of Injection Moulding and Extrusion, based on fundamental engineering and scientific principles, working in collaboration with other internal and external groups. 3. Leading the application of detailed process understanding to design, develop and optimize Vaginal Ring manufacturing processes. 4. Process engineering trouble shooting of product development, scale-up and clinical manufacturing for new products, including directly managing / running processes at vendors, development facilities and contract manufacturing sites. 5. Providing world class process engineering support to manufacturing sites and driving for the establishment of accepted best engineering practice. 6. Ensuring cost effective technology platforms are developed and established for new Vaginal Ring products, so they are proven as solutions for clinical and commercial manufacture. 7. Applying and developing technical mastery in the construction and application of process models to optimize process conditions, allow seamless process scale-up or transfer and provide insight into process mechanisms and process-product interactions. 8. Developing and implementing appropriate technologies to provide significant business benefit, by working in partnership with internal groups, external academics, scientific organizations and equipment vendors. 9. Promote the use of process engineering tools by development teams as an integral part of formulation and process development so that processes are fully understood and selection has considered full life cycle costs. 10. Develop into a recognized IPM technical master in process engineering and its applications to Vaginal Ring manufacturing processes. 11. Represent IPM in relevant external expert groups, consortia and key regulatory groups. Job Specifications Minimum requirements: BS Honors in Chemical Engineering or related discipline with 8 - 10 years industrial experience including at least 4 years within the Pharmaceutical Industry. Higher degree or further academic training in areas relevant to the role is advantageous. Experience and knowledge of mixing / compounding and Lean Sigma techniques would also be beneficial. The Candidate: 1. Able to lead and work effectively with cross functional teams successfully influencing other internal and external groups. 2. An understanding of internal and external business drivers and their impact on the design & development of Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. 3. Demonstrated technical mastery in process design or closely related work areas, with at least 4 years proven leadership capability. Experience of Project Management is also desirable. 4. Proven ability to take the initiative and deliver results with enthusiasm and a sense of urgency, sometimes working to challenging time scales. 5. Outstanding level of competency in problem solving and understanding processes thoroughly by applying fundamental engineering and scientific principles. 6. Extensive knowledge of injection moulding and extrusion processes. 7. Willingness to travel and visit overseas sites and vendors for extended periods.
