The Lean Engineer will provide technical direction in situations where expert judgment, planning, or interpretation of relevant technical principles is needed. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Process Optimization.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop current-state and future-state value stream maps of all Testing and Blood Processing methods within the facility. Identify value-added and non-value-added steps to eliminate waste and streamline processes. Train and mentor staff on the fundamentals of Lean Manufacturing techniques and how they can be incorporated into the Testing and Blood Processing methods; lead the implementation of continuous flow, 5S, kanban, and pull system concepts. Define, lead and participate in process improvement projects (e.g., Lean Kaizen events). Develop and maintain project plans. Act as project lead on cross-functional teams for process improvement, problem solving, and project management.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or the equivalent education and a minimum of five years experience in applying Lean Manufacturing concepts is required. Familiarity with SIMUL8 or other computer simulation software is preferred.
