JOB DESCRIPTION:
SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGNER
Waukegan, IL
The Senior Product Designer performs duties of a Product Designer and without supervision creates complex and custom product design layouts and manufacturing drawings. More specifically, you will:

Perform difficult design assignments requiring independent judgment, initiative, resourcefulness and drafting expertise.
- Design custom unions utilizing know design standards to develop new products for the marketplace.
- Assure that anticipated problems in manufacturing, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawings produced.
- Prepare product design layouts and manufacturing drawings in coordination with Product Engineer.
- Verify product specification information on customer orders with quotations. Review major discrepancies with manager for plan of action and contact customer as necessary to resolve differences. Issue necessary drawings and paperwork to manufacturing and enter required data into computer system.
- Interact with customers as necessary to obtain information as needed to prepare drawings.
- Interact with manufacturing on design standards and to assist with manufacturing problems.
- Assist Product Engineers with project needs.
- Process engineering change orders as required.
- Convert from metric to English using ANSI and DIN standards.
- Utilize computer software, other than CAD, to aid designing tasks. Excel, Word for Windows, MathCad, Basic etc.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups to insure proper mating of components.
- Provide advice and guidance to or supervise lower level product designers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college/technical school or five to seven years related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
