Our ability to perform is based not only on the experience of our management team, but also on the work ethic and empowerment of all our employees in a mutually respectful environment.   Job DescriptionRocore-Knoxville seeks a qualified design/engineering candidate to design and process manufacturing drawings for production of higher engineered heat exchange systems, using AutoDesk Inventor 3D modeling software. Under the direction of the Design Group Manager, the CAD Designer is responsible for utilizing 3D CAD systems to generate solid models, 3D assemblies, and 2D drawings and layouts to provide support to Engineers in the Project Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering Departments. The CAD Designer works closely with the Engineers to produce designs that are manufacturable and economically feasible. The CAD Designer is also responsible for the design and development of fabricated and machined components and multiple component assemblies. Converts CAD models and assemblies into detail drawings that include all dimensions and notes necessary for manufacture. Maintains all electronic CAD data and 2D drawings and routinely performs checks to ensure that all data is compliant with company practices. Primary DutiesUses computer aided design/drafting software (Inventor) to develop designs.Creates and makes revisions to production drawings (component part, layout, and assembly drawings) that include detailed multiviews with all necessary dimensions.Generates 3D component parts and assemblies of proposed designs in appropriate CAD system, checks dimension of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing principles, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete detailed designs and drawings.Creates finished designs from sketches.Creates and maintains drafting standards utilizing appropriate company guidelines.Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for all Production Drawings.Prepares and enters into an ERP system the Bills of Materials, Production Versions, Engineering Change Notices, and requests Purchase Orders.Checks documentation for compliance with ISO 9000.Communicates with Purchasing, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised designs or drawings and submits designs to suppliers for a quote.Responsible for building prototype parts utilizing the appropriate 3D solid modeler and assisting engineers with prototype construction and sample builds.RequirementsEducation requirements include an Associates of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Design Drafting and 2 year related experience. Good technical writing and communication skills preferred. A high skill level in Inventor CAD system important. Must be able to learn and utilize CAD systems. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
