Description:
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. The primary focus of the Quality Engineer role is to develop quality plans for the manufacture of the AGCO family of products, through investigation and problem solving of quality issues. The Quality Engineer represents the quality group in the production areas and works in a business unit team environment. This position works to proactively assist in improving quality, manufacturing and engineering issues. Finally, the Quality Engineer insures compliances to the AGCO Quality Manual, Procedures and Work Instructions.
Summary of Duties:
• Works closely with plant personnel to assure deliverable quality products.
• Serves as a member of Business Unit Team responsible for producing quality products and customer satisfaction.
• Monitors and reacts to day-to-day issues associated with quality problems; i.e. manufacturing processes, engineering issues, quality of product, and delivery schedules.
• Assists in the design, implementation and maintenance of statistical quality control methods pertinent to Business Unit quality performance.
• Oversees the continuous quality improvement performance for the Business Unit and insures that daily process quality audits are conducted and acted on.
• Works closely with purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to explore and discover root causes for product, processes and material discrepancies. Monitors and drives improvement as it pertains to 5 Principle Program (Corrective Action).
• Must be proficient in the implementation, use of and evaluation of data collections and data-based decision making for performance measurements and actions.
• Works with manufacturing assemblies to understand and communicate manufacturing principles conducive to production efficiencies and continuous quality improvement
• Coach and mentor hourly workforce, making necessary corrections.
• Be a resource to Top Management in the manufacturing processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications:
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field.
• ASQ, CQE, COA and familiarity with ISO or QS 9000 standard preferred.
Experience:
• Five plus years experience in quality, design and engineering standards.
• Engineering or manufacturing background is highly desirable.
Skills:
• Must have strong leadership skills and be experienced in leading teams.
• Must demonstrate perseverance and goals to constantly strive for continuous quality improvement.
• Must be able to analyze and distill problems down to the root cause through effective communication, both internally and externally.
