Job Title: Electronic Design Engineer Company: Veeco Instruments Location: Fort Collins, CO Description: Essential Job Responsibilities§         Supports engineering activities such as design, check-out, modification, fabrication, assembly, programming and troubleshooting of high-voltage and high-power electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.§         Builds prototype printed circuit board assemblies, cable assemblies, and magnetics assemblies.  Also builds and tests prototypes of higher-level electronics/electro-mechanical assemblies running off of AC mains voltage or high-voltage DC buses.§         Analyzes failures of electronics products to determine root cause and performs repair, calibration, and testing of failed or faulty power electronics equipment.§         Interfaces with contract manufacturers to provide assistance with new product release to manufacturing, with engineering changes, or with production troubleshooting and training.  Includes occasional travel to contract manufacturer sites domestically and possibly overseas for troubleshooting, training, or auditing.§         Travels to customer sites both domestic and overseas for installation, demonstrations, training, or troubleshooting. Other Job Responsibilities§         Conducts tests including data collection, analysis and presentation for evaluation of designs, qualification of new products, or assessment of failures.§         Provides laboratory support and assistance for R&D engineering staff and possibly production staff. §         Participates in electronics design reviews to provide input on design reliability and suitability for manufacturing.§         Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications§         Must have an Associates degree in electronics or equivalent.§         Must be able to read engineering electronics schematics as well as troubleshoot digital, analog, and high-power electronics assemblies down to the component level.§         Must be proficient in through-hole and SMT soldering and rework.§         Must be familiar with standard electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, etc.)§         Mechanical assembly and prototype assembly skills strongly preferred.
