Investigate alternate component technologies or supplies – reducing cost and improving quality and reliability. Work with Quality Team to outline and verify quality plan. Create and maintain detailed Work Instructions on developed processes. Identify and qualify equipment required to manufacture optical catheter. Establish critical process parameters and Statistical Process Controls (SPC) to ensure process consistency. Provide failure analysis and continuous improvement on developed and existing processes. Define product routing and optimize through Lean Mfg Methods. Develop and implement changes in procedures, process parameters, project scheduling, procurement specifications, design rules and equipment configurations where necessary. Monitor process and product step yields and implement corrective actions. Work within a team environment to develop robust mfg. processes. As necessary, performs other duties as required. Education: Technical BS degree (Mechanical Engineering/Plastics Engineering/Optical Engineering). Knowledge and Experience: 10 years in a medical device volume manufacturing environment Experience with NPI process. Must have worked in an ISO certified company and be knowledgeable of GMP and related standards. Experience working in automated data (PC-based) collection systems – creating methods for tracking and maintaining information electronically. Direct experience using DOE, Gage R&R studies, and statistical techniques in the development of medical device processes. Experience NPI, Lean Mfg, Continuous Improvement and Project Management. Experience with injection molding and plastic joining technologies. Desirable Qualifications: Exposure and understanding of Optics and optical properties. Catheter manufacturing experience is preferred. Industrial experience in cost sensitive, production volume, complex systems-based products Experience in new product introduction using DFM/DFC principles. Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to self-organize and work pro-actively and effectively with engineers and across functional departments. Problem Solving and Decision Making: Solve problems with little or no supervision. Physical Requirements: Ability to handle sub millimeter size components in the course of process development and optimization.
