CTT is headquartered in Huddersfield, England including our primary technical center, but we also have manufacturing and engineering sites in the US in addition to multiple other locations around the world. The primary turbocharger manufacturing facilities for products used in North America are located in Charleston, South Carolina.The current open position is for an experienced engineer in our Columbus, Indiana location. The role of a turbocharger application engineer involves working with the customer engine teams as the turbocharger technical specialist on new engine programs or on a team in support of field issues. This includes working with CTT program teams including engineers, program managers, account managers and manufacturing to define appropriate turbomachinery along with delivery timing. The application engineer must be able to understand the customer engine architecture and include all modes of operation to provide the correct turbocharger hardware selection. The architecture might be for a diesel or natural gas fuelled engine and could include the use of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), selective catalyst reduction (SCR), a diesel particulate filter (DPF) or some other aftertreatment device. The engine operation modes include fired, braking and any aftertreatment specific modes. The knowledge of the customer engine operation then allows the applications engineer to understand the overall impact on the turbocharger operating conditionsThe engineer will participate in or lead projects with the engine team and turbocharger teams to perform the necessary development tasks. This includes having broad knowledge of turbocharger functions and the knowledge of multiple functions within the turbocharger and/or engine development fields.This role includes the ability of training/developing other engineers on the theories & principals of turbocharging in addition to unique requirements of applications engineering. SKILLS: TEAMWORK:An example of the CTT team to support an engine project would include a program manager, an account manager, an applications engineer, a service engineer, manufacturing/plant product engineering and contact with one or more technical project leaders. It is necessary to work effectively in teams and to be able to blur the distinction between specific team roles so that the available skills are always applied most effectively to the work at hand.The applicant will need to be able operate in the application engineering role independently/without direct supervision on most functions, while keeping the team informed on direction and status. As customer programs often involve a rapidly developing programs there is a need to be able to work well and lead with others of diverse backgrounds in engine / turbo development groups in a dynamic environment.SKILLS: LEADERSHIP:The candidate will be expected to lead multiple projects that at times which include several other team members. May need effectively manage 2-5 other engineers & 2-10 technicians.
